Will shipping be EU-friendly?

Onyx Path will contract a third-party fulfillment & logistics partner to handle distribution duties of the physical rewards for this Kickstarter campaign. The shipping charges added to your pledge level cover only these shipping and handling costs - any additional fees incurred for delivery (VAT, customs or import taxes) - are the responsibility of the backer.

Our third-party logistics partner may have an agreement with an EU-based partner to minimize some of these extra charges (primarily VAT) for EU-based customers. However, that will be an arrangement made between our logistics partner and another organization, so Onyx Path cannot guarantee the procedure for EU shipping.

In summary, we’ll contract a third-party shipper who will certainly attempt to negotiate a method for making the shipping EU-friendly, but at this early stage, no set-up is yet in place to ensure this is the case and we cannot promise that the situation will change.

When will we receive our rewards?

The estimated delivery date listed on your Reward Tier indicates expected fulfillment for Chicago By Night. For the PDF, it is expected to be delivered to all backers by August 2019. For the hardcover edition, it is expected to be delivered to all backers who have correctly confirmed their shipping address by November 2019. If the projects are completed before these dates, they will be sent to backers as soon as they are ready.

Additional rewards, particularly those generated as Stretch Goals, will be delivered as they become available. As the Chicago By Night book is the main focus of the program, many Stretch Goal rewards may not be developed or worked on until after this book is completed.

Current Estimated Shipping Date: January 2020

INCORRECT ITEM CLASSIFICATION On some of the international orders shipped out, the sku data pulled into the customs form was incorrect, and the Chicago By Night book was declared a "boardgame" rather than a "book." In some instances, this mis-classification can impact import duties, customs brokerage fees, taxes, or other charges that may arise on imported items. Again, this won't affect everyone, but may be an issue for some of you. Our fulfillment partners at GamesQuest are now aware of the issue and offered this advice: Since GamesQuest and Onyx Path are not the recipients of the goods we cannot directly get DHL to change the declaration of each order, however the individual backer themselves can get into contact with DHL and ask for their expected items to be re-declared as books. This should solve the problem and mean that the tax exemptions are upheld for the customer. However, as with all customs dealings there may be complications. If that is the case, it's advised the customer gets into contact with GameQuest's customer services team, who should be able to liaise with DHL and confirm that the re-declaration is correct. This should solve the majority if not all cases. GamesQuest Customer Service is available at: [email protected] Again, if you have any issues with customs information being incorrect, please reach out to the carrier (DHL in most cases) and get the GamesQuest customer service team involved if it needs to be escalated. They are aware of the issue, well-versed with DHL practices and have working relationships with DHL CS teams and account managers.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
